The Shawn Larsen Memorial Fund

Following the sudden loss of Shawn Larsen in May 2018, we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of friends and community to help provide for Shawn's two sons, Tiane and Noa.  This assistance in the wake of their mother's passing will help to ensure a bright future for these wonderful young men.

It is our wish going forward to honour and commemorate Shawn's brilliant artistic talents. As such, the Shawn Larsen Memorial Fund (SLMF) has been established as an affiliate of the Brandon Flock Foundation (BFF) to provide financial support to project-based work for student artists at ACAD and Emily Carr University. We believe providing other artists an opportunity to achieve their vision is aligned with Shawn's generous nature and creative spirit, and we believe Shawn's fund fits well within the BFF's mission.

Mary Haasdyk In The News

Previous recipient of the scholarship, Mary Haasdyk has been making an impact in Calgary with a unique project... Turning Manhole Covers into art.

"We drive over them every day and hardly pay any attention to them, but in Calgary, manhole covers are being turned into pieces of art, ones the city hopes get lots of notice.

The City of Calgary replaces around 2,000 manhole covers each year. For 2018, it decided to commission three artists to redesign covers into pieces of art that would remind city dwellers about how the city’s water network is integrated into the city."
